Buglasayaw Wins Tourism Week Folk Dance Contest

Foundation University Buglasayaw Dance Troupe was named champion during the Folk Dance Competition last September 27 at the main atrium of Robinsons Place Dumaguete. This was in line with the celebration of the World Tourism Week.


With their winning piece, “Lanceros de Tayabas” – a folk dance which originated from Quezon province and the name was taken from chivalrous knights and lancers of King Arthur’s court.


Buglasayaw bested the other dance groups from Negros Maritime College Foundation, Inc,; St. Paul University Dumaguete and Metro Dumaguete College.


Buglasayaw Dance Troupe is one of the three cultural groups of Foundation University and its reorganization began by former Cultural Officer Bobby Villasis and its choreographer, Loury U. Lacson of Bayanihan Dance Company in 1979.
